The month of November has slipped on by me without me noticing it. How is it possible that Thanksgiving is next week? It was 82 degrees here a couple days ago and I've been seeing Christmas stuff filling up the stores. It just doesn't feel right. I'm not ready! Surely I'm not the only one? I'd love to have a lineup of Thanksgiving sides and dessert ideas for you, but that's just not going to happen. Instead I have one delicious dip for you that you can serve to your guests while watching the ball game and enjoying a cold beer. That's better than green been casserole, any day.
I was asked by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board to come up with an original idea for a dip containing dairy. I brainstormed a bit with my mom and my friend Maranda, from Jolts and Jollies and we came up with this Cheesy Ranch BLT Dip. It's loaded with spinach, tomatoes, bacon, held together with a healthy serving of Mozzarella and cream cheese and seasoned with Ranch dressing and fresh garlic. Served atop a a sliced baguette, this was like the classic sandwich kicked up a few notches. Maranda and I came up with several ideas for dips that we wanted to make so she decided to throw herself an impromptu birthday party and asked people to bring a dip along with them. I brought two dips- this hot BLT dip and Mr. H :-) It was great fun, we laughed, made new friends and no one went home hungry- Happy birthday Manna!
Serves 8
- 6 slices bacon
- 1 box (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
- 8 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
- 8 oz. (2 cups) Mozzarella cheese, freshly grated
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup diced tomato, seeded
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced
- 3 Tablespoons Ranch dressing powder
Dice bacon into 1/2-inch pieces and cook over medium-high heat til crisp. Remove bacon from the grease with a slotted spoon and allow to drain on a paper towel lined plate.
In a large bowl, combine spinach, cream cheese, 1 1/2 cups of the grated Mozzarella, cooked bacon, mayonnaise, tomato, garlic and Ranch dressing powder. Using a rubber spatula, mix until well combined. Scrape mixture into the prepared dish and smooth the top. Sprinkle the top with the remaining half cup of Mozzarella.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until bubbly and golden. Serve with a sliced baguette or crackers.
Earlier this year, I did a review of Chinet Bakeware and loved it. Anytime I have a gathering to go to or if I'm taking a dish to a friend, I now bake it in these wonderful pans. You can read my review of the product HERE, if you'd like. Since the holidays are right around the corner, Chinet has graciously offered to give one of my readers a set of disposable Chinet Bakeware. One lucky reader will receive a set of each of the sizes pictured in the photo above.
All you have to do is tell me what your favorite Thanksgiving food is by leaving me a comment on this post. Please leave a way for me to contact you if you win. I will select a winner this week. Offer valid to residents of the USA only. Good luck!

Homemade rolls are always my favorite. But that dip might fill me up before dinner even starts!
My favorite Thanksgiving dish is the Pecan Pie my Mother in Law makes. She is 87 and still insists on cooking the dinner and does an amazing job!
My favorite is sweet potato casserole--not with marshmallows; the one with the brown sugar topping. Most people put pecans in the topping, but my mother knows I can't stand nuts and always makes a nut-free one just for me. It makes Thanksgiving extra-special.
My favorite is pecan pie, sometimes I go completely overboard and throw a couple of handfuls of chocolate chips in!!!
home made ravioli... yep... ravioli :) my family is italian and our main dish was always our mouth watering 100% home made ravioli. our turkey and mashed potatoes were more of an afterthought than part of our feast. I live across the country from my family now, and the thing i miss most is my italian thanksgiving
I love the garlic mashed potatoes with a bit of butter on them.

A well-cooked turkey that's been soaking in a brine solution first helps make our Thanksgiving yummier. The hard part is finding a cold enough spot to safely brine the turkey! Love the dip recipe-spinach, cream cheese, ranch and bacon-mmmmmm!

I discovered a cranberry conserve recipe years ago that I just love (use it on everything from sandwiches to french toast). My entire family, woefully, will only eat that awful gelatinous cranberry mess from a can. Which means I get the 'good stuff' all to myself! Thank you for the giveaway!
Hands down...it's the gravy. Gravy with turkey, or dressing, or mashed potatoes. But I LOVE the gravy!
It too hard for me to choose just one! I love it all!
Thank you for the giveaway!

I would say pumpkin pie is my favorite but I also love the stuffing. YUM!
Cranberry sauce, especially the next day on a leftover turkey sandwich :)
Wow! That dip sounds amazing! Thanks for the chance to win a little something too. :o)
Definitely the dressing! I love a good day after turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce and dressing on it, mmmm!
It's not thanksgiving without my grandma's delicious coconut cake.
Totally love the dip...my husband thanks you in advance! And I am all for the stuffing. I do prefer it to be stuffing, but will eat it as dressing too. Just make it (lots of it) and let me eat it for days...hot, cold, just yummy!
Thanks,

Homemade cranberry sauce! Thanksgiving just isnt the same without it :D
Our new favorite side is a take on Williams Sonoma brussels sprouts gratin. We make our own caramelized shallots. And no one needs 3 cups bread crumbs for the topping.

Homemade Stuffing with onions and sage!! Mmmmmmmm!!
My absolute favorite is my "special" recipe Pumpkin Pie. Anyone who's had a taste, would never even consider going back to regular 'ole pumpkin pie (YES,it's THAT good!)
OK, now, 3....2....1....And let the baking BEGIN!
Stuffing is my favorite.
My favorite is the sweet potato casserole.
Dressing is my favorite. I never heard of stuffing until I was an adult. There is nothing like good old fashioned cornbread dressing!!!
Nothing beats homemade cranberry sauce. I could eat the whole bowl!
I've always been a fan of the whole meal-just seems like each dish makes it so special. I love sweet potatoes and of course dessert is always a hit - pumpkin pie! Thanks for the giveaway...Happy Thanksgiving!
My favorite is my dad's stuffing. He cooks it the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and he and I always have a taste in the middle of the night!
I NEED the oldfashioned bread/herb stuffing and a traditional pumpkin pie for Tday to be considered Tday!
So many favorites, but the homemade rolls and mashed potatoes with gravy (and a little bit of corn) sends me back for seconds.
I actually could do without the turkey all together but it is the item that everyone expects so he graces our table front and center. Like many others I love all the sides, not one in particular but the feeling associated with having them all on one plate, all in one meal, being able to savor a bite of each.
Without a doubt, for decades, my favorite thing on the table and in my mouth on Thanksgiving was creamed onions, but it was replaced recently by onions braised in balsalmic vinegar and bacon.

Sweet Potato Casserole with chopped pecans on top.
'm the traditionalist and go for the pumpkin pie ~ but the rest of family always wants a grasshopper pie (creme de menthe, marshmallows melted, cool whip in an oreo crust). It was always so cute when the kids and now grandkids are little - Dear Hubby and I would have them convinced the grasshoppers were harvested out of an old stump in the woods.
Can't wait to try the Cheesy Ranch BLT Dip ~ I'm from Wisconsin and all that cheese and dairy is right up my alley!! Thanks for sharing:)

I love pecan pie! My Grandma Ruby was always in charge of the pies on the holidays. She lived with us having her own apartment downstairs in our house. So while my mom was upstairs making turkey and mashed potatoes, Grandma was making pies! The smells in my house were amazing! ')
We have LOTS of desserts ... I can't pick a favorite!! Maybe pecan pie?
My moms sausage stuffing---hands down THE BEST stuffing ever!
Well, I must say Pumpkin Pie is my favorite, but it must have real whip cream. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, I have so much to be thankful for.
I love the dressing. We use a recipe from the old Better Homes and Gardens cookbook called "Harvest Dressing". Thanks for sharing a contest! holly4shelfreliance@gmaildotcom
It's a toss-up: stuffing (made with any and all the leftover bread in the freezer!) or pumpkin pie.
I absolutely love stuffing! I don't make it throughout the year just to salivate at thanksgiving :).
My favorite Thanksgiving food is spinach squares
It is so hard to choose just one thing, but my grandmother always makes the cranberry sauce especially for me each year. No one else really touches it (including her) yet she makes it just for me and it is the only time I ever get it! It adds such a special touch to the holiday that I would have to say that is my favorite :)
Our thanksgiving is very untraditional, most of my family is vegetarian so thanksgiving doesn't involve a turkey and stuffing for us but there is a favorite part to it for me. For twenty years now the same family and friends has spent wednesday evening to thursday night together. I was about eight years old when this tradition began but to this day every year without fail someone host's thanksgiving and all of us kids (now in our 20's and 30's) and our parents get together for a sleepover. Our wednesday and thursday is filed with lots of football and FOOD! So my favorite part is getting to be an adult who still does sleepovers!
My favorite is my sisters banana pudding and my dressing and from scratch mac-n-cheese!
My favorite Thanksgiving food is not so much a food, but something that goes along with the food. The gravy! It just tastes so good with almost everything I've tried it with hahaha. (:

Well every single thing is always 'licious but if I had to pick one, well it would have to be good ol' Southern cornbread dressin' cause the only thing we stuff is our faces!!
I love loaded mashed potatoes!!
The Pumpkin Pie.
I really enjoy making the Williams Sonoma Butternut Squash Casserole recipe. It is fantastic!
I loooove mashed potatoes!

My Grandma's Stuffing is the highlight of my Thanksgiving.
Hmm...I do love stuffing, but then I also love fresh rolls with butter. Pumpkin pie's not bad either, but perhaps it's the whipped cream I like more than the pie. Too hard to decide! Now I'm hungry!
