Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey Cookbook Review

A few weeks ago Michel-lee from Whipping Up Something Good hosted a cookbook swap. And you know how I like my cookbooks (scroll all the way down to the very bottom of this blog!) so I opted in. It really was a no brainer for me :-) Thank you Michel-lee for hosting this fun swap!

I was partnered up with Leslie from La Cocina de Leslie and I was thrilled by this because she's a fellow Cake Slice Baker so I knew she liked sweets as much as I do. She chose for me Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey by Jill O'Connor. Now I have to say that I've seen this book around before but it's not one that I've ever really looked through. I never browsed through it because of the title. Now most people would be in Heaven with all things sticky, chewy, messy and gooey, but in my mind all I could think of was a messy kitchen and sticky hands. Very bad for an OCD person like me :-)

But I have to say that I was really impressed by this book. Sure some of the recipes can be sticky and messy but I think that's part of the presentation, they don't have to be. And it's not like you're eating risotto rice pudding with your fingers! The layout of this book is cute and somewhat frilly but the pictures are nice and crisp. There are personal little stories that accompany the recipes as well as helpful tips. Not every recipe has a picture and not every recipe appeals to me but that's the same for most cookbooks.

I guess what I'm saying is that I think Leslie's choice was perfect for me! There are so many different recipes in this book from Banana Bread Pudding, Grown Up S'mores, Sticky Biscuits to Caramel Butter Bars, Coconut Milk-Cream Cheese Flan and Grapefruit-Tangerine Mousse With Phyllo Ruffles. Lots of yummies in here! If you know someone who likes these types of recipes, then this book might be for them.

**All photos are borrowed from Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey**

Thank you Michel-lee and Leslie! I know what my first recipe from this book wil be, but you'll have to wait for that one!

You're a tease! ; ) Can't wait to see what you bake. I see this cookbook around often, but I haven't really picked it up either. I guess because of the title I thought it was more geared to kid desserts.

What a great idea - the book looks a gorgeous one. I've seen it around on blogs but never seen any of the pics before. They look divine. Love the look of the sticky biscuits and the tall chocolate cake.

for me it's the little bits of information shared with recipes that makes cook books so enjoyable
