This is not really a post with recipes. I just wanted to show you the sandwiches that we've eaten recently that we've really enjoyed. It's so hot out and there are nights that I don't want to turn the oven on so we turn to sandwiches. Besides them being easy to whip up, they're totally quick and customisable and they're good for lunch or dinner.
Both of these sandwiches are served on OroWeat OatNut Bread. This first sandwich is lightly toasted bread then slathered with Hellman's mayo on each slice of bread. On one slice I added a handful of sweet baby greens, 2 slices of crisp bacon, cut in half, then one hard boiled egg, sliced and seasoned with salt and pepper. A spoonful of garlic pesto tops the remaining slice of bread. We had these again for dinner last night so I had to share them with you- so good!

The second sandwich was a result of a craving. What else is new? It's basically a BLT sandwich with a cornmeal crusted Fried Green Tomato in place of the red tomato slices. Toasted bread with a slather of mayo, sweet baby greens, 2 slices of crisp bacon, 2 slices of fried green tomatoes. I coated the tomato slices with buttermilk and spices (salt, garlic powder and cayenne pepper) then dipped them in seasoned cornmeal then pan fried them til golden. We served these with a side of even more fried green tomatoes and ranch dressing. yes, ma'am.
These are our favorite sandwiches right now, besides the usual turkey/cheddar or gooey grilled muenster cheese. Of course we can't forget about the fried egg topped ham and cheese or the Cuban sandwich or the egg salad sandwich either!
What is on your favorite sandwich?

mouthwatering sandwiches!mmmm
I love sandwiches too! They're great for a busy evening and everyone is still happy...especially me, without any dishes to clean except a few knives. I always go back to a good turkey sandwich with some smoked gouda or gruyere with tons of baby spinach on some hearty wheat bread or ciabatta. Yum!
OH I love a good ol' turkey club with melted cheddar cheese! YUM!
If you like Monica's Blog you will love my new blog!

Oh my word! These sandwiches look awesome! I started salivating over the BLT with fried green tomatoes. Yum!!! Thanks for sharing these!
my two favourites are:
- Toasted white bread (2 slices), one toped with mushed avocado, a little bit of salt, then you put some chopped broiled or broth cooked chicken breast, some mayo, pickles and you top it with the other half of bread... delicious!!
- The other is what we call churrasco, a typical chilean sandwich: very thin cut meat, stir fried on a pan (just with a liiitlee bit of oil, salt and pepper), mushed avocado, tomato slices, sour curt (optional), mayo, ketchup, mustard (all of those are options), all that served on a toasted bun, a a whole wheat bread or better on a cibatta bread.
enjoy!!
I have to admit, I don't make a lot of sandwiches at home (I'm too lazy to drag out all the fixings I guess) but I love to go out to lunch and have a really good sandwich. When I do make one myself I love oven roasted turkey, bacon, provolone, tomato, lettuce, and really thin sliced red onion on whole grain bread with a bit of mayo (mixed with chopped basil). Yum!!
I'm lovin' the BLT with the fried green tomatoes idea!! Brilliant!
I always a good summer sammie. Thanks for the ideas!
Those look fantastic! Since I started trying to eat mostly vegan, sandwiches are something I've really missed. But one of my favorites has to be tomato, basil and mozzarella on a fresh baguette with a drizzle of balsamic... yum!
What a fun post! These sandwiches look scrumptious!
Never would have thought of putting fried green tomatoes on a sandwich..yum!
Great sandwiches!!! Love the idea of adding the egg never thought to do that.. Thanks!!
On the way home from Raleigh on Friday night I mentioned your idea for FGT on BLT and Terry said YOU HAVE TO MAKE THAT FOR ME! You are so creative!
My favorite sandwich is turkey, muenster, avocado, tomato and bacon grill-smashed in my panini maker. Yummy!
I love your idea to put fried green tomatoes on a sandwich!
I love all sandwiches...but now you really have my craving a BLT!
Do you have a recipe for your garlic pesto????
Damn, it's been a while since I've had a good sandwich!
I like pepperoni pizza style sandwiches-pepperoni, Italian seasonings mayo, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomato. Yum.
wow..that looks soo yummy! sliced eggs sounds good:)
I know just what you mean, its been very hot here too and sarnies are just whats called for. Love the look of the fried tomatoes, I've never had these but I can imagine they taste fab.
I love greek salad sandwiches or housmous with olives, chili, grated carrot and mixed salad.
Sweet & Savory- I used a store bought locally made pesto for these sandwiches. No recipe, sorry!
Favorite sandwich is a cuban, or maybe a turkey club or maybe tuna salad or maybe a monte cristo or maybe....
great pictures!
Summer and sandwiches go together like love and marriage! You posted kind words on the loss of our dalmatian, Argos. Just want you to know that we have a new boy, Oliver. He's a three year old who was returned to our breeder through no fault of his own. He's fitting right in! I posted about him last week. It's always good to connect with animal lovers--and great cooks!
Best,
Bonnie
Love the fried green tomato idea--never thought of it!
This may sound weird, but a fave sandwich of mine has sprouts, sweet purple onion, guacamole and salted cashews (pressed into the guacamole) on whole wheat bread. Sometimes I add lettuce and tomato too. It sounds weird but its great! I just by the packaged Avo guac in the produce section to make it quick.
Also, I was the one who had emailed you about the spring form pan and the lemon chiffon cake. Well I never got around to making it. My dad passed away (not unexpectedly) at Easter. So its still on my to-do list. Thanks so much for the tips! Love this blog!

Jenn, I am so sorry for your loss. If you need anything please let me know.
I hope you find time in the future to make that cake!

Wow, I love all of them...what a great meal they make...love the color of it...sure a Summer treat :-)
I love deli roast beef on a crusty roll with provolone cheese warmed under the broiler. Add some mayo and I'm loving it.
Great, easy meal for summer time. So many fun variations too!
Hmm, favorite sandwich? Probably roast beef with Swiss or a chicken and bacon and White Cheddar with ranch dressing one. Not overly creative, but I love 'em!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Luv ya!

btw, I like sandwiches well enough though I can't say that I have a fave one.
Does a breakfast sandwich count? If so my Dad's. He makes me a VERY thin omelet (for me), like crepe thin and then tops my sliced white bread with it and lots of crispy bacon, YUM-O!

These look sooooo good - your posts are so inspiring! Lucie x
Oh, is my mouth ever watering...I like pan braised chicken breast with our sliced garden tomatoes, crisp bacon, romaine lettuce and a huge slathering of Hellman's Mayo on a toasted whole wheat bun !
That BLT..mamma mia..lol. You sure make things look good girl!
My favorite sandwich has to be fresh turkey breast with lots of mayo, lettuce, and tomato on a fresh french baguette.
I love a BLT, but I may have to try a BLFGT! I also love a scrambled egg sandwich with fresh tomatoes.
Happy birthday, sweetie. Thinking of you...hugs
PS. I hope you get a chance to check out my latest blog post. I left something over there for you (I hope you don't mind). You can find the post here:

It was record hot yesterday - so we tried these - with a BLT flare, the Teens and I enjoyed these, that now I have to get more eggs hardboiled! I have to say the Pesto spread was a huge hit for me over the regular mayo! Thank you for the "BELT sammie" as my 14 yo son put it.. Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, Tomato.
It's certainly sandwich time during this incredible 101 degree heat here! And I truly appreciate these new ideas, especially the fried green tomato BLT's....I've still got green tomatoes so I can make these for a while! Roz
